TOMMY RASCOE Aims For First HUNT COUNTY Weekend Victory
Published September 16, 2024
The Southern States Modified Series sat down with Tommy Rascoe to discuss how his season has gone so far.
This year hasn't gone as planned and has been a season filled with struggles. We wanted a better season but we're just grateful where we are. My work schedule is challenging because I'm in Texas and only have one weekend day to work on my car. My girlfriend, Kristin, has been a really big help on getting things done. We've had to rely on a lot of people to be able to make it to the races.
Though the defending series champion sits ninth in the Day Motorsports point standings, the top nine positions are separated by a mere 217 points with six races remaining until the championship finale with the Texas Grand at 105 Speedway in Cleveland, Texas.
Friday night, August 9th, we lost my big engine at Sabine Speedway. So, we went straight home and took it out and installed the 358 spec engine for Saturday night, August 10th, at Ark-La-Tex Speedway. We didn’t even have time to scale the car, just loaded it up and went racing. We won our heat race and finished third in the feature. We give a lot of credit to Eric Mack with DKM Fabrication for getting me parts in a timely manner. I look forward to the rest of the season.
I am working in south Texas now and will not be driving home on the weekends except for race day. This will make it tough, but we will continue trying to be competitive and consistent and as always support the class and the sport we love. I give all the praise and glory to my Savior Jesus Christ. I also thank DKM Fabrication, Union Valley Services, Ramirez Concrete LCC, Red River Cowboy Church, Phoenix Bail Bonds, APE Engines, Art’s Radiator and JK Sign Works.
The fall stretch of the Southern States Modified Series season begins at Hunt County Speedway on Friday, September 20, for $1,200 to win then on to Saturday night for $1,500 to win.
