Oltz Continues to find Speed with Top 5 at Sabine, Hunt County weekend on Deck

Published on August 30, 2024 by Chris Bates

Corey Oltz highlighted a doubleheader weekend at Sabine Speedway and Ark-La-Tex Speedway that vaulted him to 4th in Southern States Modified points and with a solid shot at closing in on a top 3 spot and hopes the momentum will continue on to Hunt County Raceway.

“First off I'd like to give a special thanks to Tim and Chris Bates for putting together a great series. Also, I’m very thankful for the support from all the tracks in Louisiana and Texas. I feel the Southern States Modified Series is a growing class with tons of potential.”

“As for the car I currently drive a Teo Pro Car from Teo Fabrication located in New Jersey. The car has certainly given me many ups and downs this season. The car has tons of potential I just need to keep adjusting and moving forward. I currently operate out of my shop located in my back yard. Racing must be one of the most humbling sports out there. One moment you can be battling for a great position and the next minute you’re doing everything you can to stay on the lead lap.”

“As far as my crew, I'm a one man show. I serve as driver, owner, crew chief and tire changer. Being one of the furthest competitors from most tracks it’s very tough to assemble a pit crew. However, when I go to the tracks all the fellow competitors are always willing to lend a hand. I've become close friends with all the racers.”

“Currently we're sitting in the top 5 in points. I feel that’s a great achievement for my small racing program. We're still learning and always looking for the great end results.”

“I'd like to give a special thanks to Jason Felice with Steamboat Bills for coming on board this season. As always, I'd like to thank Tony Pottmeyer with the Floor Trader out of Lake Charles as well and I can't forget about Steve Cape who hand paints my car every year and serves as a crew member when we race 105 Speedway”.

Five races remain on the Southern States Modified Series schedule. Some great point battles within the top 10 as Patrik Daniel and Anthony Meek are separated by 40 points. From 3rd to 9th 66 points separate Thomas Holt, Corey Oltz, Caleb Dillard, Richard Holt, Keith Badiali, Keith Meek and Tommy Rascoe.

The Southern States Modified Series makes its highly anticipated debut September 20 - 21 at Hunt County Raceway!
